Houston's Role in a Changing Space Economy

What do the changes at NASA mean for Jobs in Houston?

On September 29, 2010 the U.S. Congress passed the $19 billion reauthorization of NASA. The vote preserved the space shuttle program through next year and extends the life of the International Space Station (ISS) while enacting most of the president’s requested cuts to the human spaceflight program, including ending most of the Constellation program. Along with these cuts, the administration received $1.6 billion to encourage commercial space-launch capacity. These changes will have a huge impact on Johnson Space Center and and the Houston space economy.

Due to these recent events, the hosts of the Space Economy Houston Career Fair have enhanced the format by adding a panel discussion by leaders in commercial space to explore Houston's role in a changing Space Economy. The session will examine what these changes mean for jobs in Houston and what the future holds for NASA and commercial space.

There will be Q&A time with panelists as well as networking opportunities with commercial space companies and others at the event.
